This art work is inspired by the nasturturium flowers growing in my front yard, planted by my 2yr old daughter :)

Chickadee birds have been one of my favorites since I was a child. That's why I love painting them so much.

I hope that through my paintings, where all the elements of an experience come together, I am able to communicate the essence of my surrounding.

I am always drawn to the lovely graphic details I see in these beautiful aspens... especially when the leaves have fallen, exposing the structure of the branches.

The desert skies are an inspiration to me; constantly changing and creating wondrous color palettes. The Joshua Tree inspires with it's grace and endurance in a harsh climate.

This art was instrumental in earning me a trip to Italy, Sept., 2022. The peace and calm it evokes of the west Texas plains is outstanding.

"Blue Moon" refers to the expression "once in a blue moon,” as I made and named this painting inspired by a beautiful tree near me, without realizing until later all the synchronicities around the title meaning. Firstly, it was during an actual blue moon, the rare second full moon of a calendar month, which also happened to fall on Halloween that month. Secondly, I later found out that strange orbs resembling those I depicted in the painting were filmed in Mexico in the days before I completed it. Also, it fell right before the Leonid meteor shower of 2020. Lastly, it was completed around the time of the presidential election when the win was by such a narrow margin that it only occurred once before like that in American history, and so was described on the news as "once in a blue moon".

My sunroom studio is nestled in a woodland garden in the largest estuary in the United States ~ the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.Interpreting this spectacular landscape through my art for decades, I've discovered that earth, sky, water soothe, uplift, and energize us with her healing colors.

Nature summons—demands!—close study. In a world so bombarded by supersizing, by big, loud “stuff,” it is calming to concentrate on what is small, what is too often overlooked. Every detail is critical to my compositions. Such study requires a sense of peace and sensitivity. After all, art comes from the hand and the heart.
